Torres de Balàfia

Situated a few metres from the village of Sant Llorenc, you can walk and see aesthetically beautiful, typical rural Ibizencan houses combined with interior defence towers of great architectural interest. Balafia is made up of a group of 5 Balearic peasant houses with defence towers, all of which are adapted to the lie of the land and they form a nucleus of great architectural interest.

All the houses are privately owned. The towers served as refuges for the inhabitants of the houses in case of attacks from pirates, sharing a similar function with the coastal defence towers although they have distinctive characteristics. The white crosses, which are painted on the facades of these towers, serve as protection against negative influences.
